There is no shortage of research that points us to the need to continually hone and to develop our self awareness. This priority is also important with presence - because if we can figure out what happens when we are pulled from present to partially distracted, we can work on strategies to bring ourselves back to the current circumstance and person or people.
So, what happens when you become less present? Do you fidget? Reach for your phone? Stop listening at all?
We all do something or somethings ... start with self-awareness. (You might also bring in trusted colleagues and ask them for their perspective.)
