I spent last weekend in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota (my home state). One of the things I love to do when I’m most anywhere with great scenery is run, so I went running on a new part of a trail.
The picture below was a hill … a very sneaky, very gradual, & very long hill … that I wasn’t really expecting. My legs hurt. I wanted to quit. I was facing a challenge ... an unexpected challenge.
On this trip, I also started reading the book “Tomorrowmind: Thriving at Work with Resilience, Creativity, and Connection―Now and in an Uncertain Future” by Martin Seligman and Gabriella Rosen Kellerman, MD. This book has me thinking about my fascination with resilience, great workplaces, and what working in a connected way can mean … including that hills (or challenges) are easy to tackle with people we trust.
⛰️ What hill might you or your team be on that is harder and longer than you planned? Or maybe unexpected?
🤔 What if we all had people on our journey that helped us see our potential to face and to meet challenges?
❓ How can you spend a moment today to appreciate the journey of a challenge by acknowledging the important work of those around you?
